2010 CONGRESSIONAL PRIMARIES ARE CRITICAL

Taking into account the blatant corruption and elitist attitude of all members of Congress regardless of party; when it is understood that their refusal to obey the Constitution is intentional and without regard for We, the People; when voters realize that a total replacement of Congress is necessary; the primary elections of 2010 become far more important than the 2010 general election.

With the people of the nation facing the loss of their freedoms as Americans, and dis-satisfaction with government’s leadership growing rampantly, next year’s congressional primaries represent the first chance for voters to fire those who have failed to protect our constitution by electing new officials from both parties who might actually work to save America from the ruin it is racing toward.

American voters of every party have become angry and disgusted with the willful rebuke handed them by their representitives and senators. Whether it was action causing the shortage and high prices of gasoline, increased taxation, more entitlements to special interests, expensive and illegal earmarks, partisan opposition to what is the people’s best interests, calls for responsible government, dictatorial rule changes by committee and party leaders, blatant waste and outright theft of the people’s taxes, the outrageous and illegal expansion of government authority and size, responsibility for the economic crisis, outrageous and destructive laws in favor of petty environmental excuses, or myriads of other stupid, selfish, illegal, and harmful acts against American voters, we have all become victims of the greed, arrogance, and lack of any responsibility for their actions or to the people by congressional incumbents on both sides of the aisle.

The people have come to the realization that drastic measures are called for, and that they alone are willing or able to what is required to end the tyrannical march toward oppression and change the course of America back toward freedom, greatness, and a future of happiness for our grandchildren. We, the People, have the duty and, for a decreasing time, the ability to pull this country out of the consuming flames fanned by a corrupted congress of professional politicians and radical socialist influences.

We, the American voters of both parties, can win any election we want to if we all vote for the same basic goal. Democrat and Republican voters, if banded together for America, could numerically dominate any election in a big, BIG way. Agreeing with each other on the immediacy of major changes in Congress and realizing there is no need to change affiliation or vote for the opposite party, we Americans can and must unite in a Voter’s Revolt to replace all the evil liars on Capitol Hill and insure none of them ever have the chance to fleece us again.

The 2010 congressional primary election is where this unity must take place. We must not allow the incumbent members of Congress from either party to advance to the general election. If they win the primary and become a candidate in the general election again, they can outspend a rival of the opposite party and call on those flunkies who owe them favors to insure they are re-elected again. We, the voters of both parties, must all make the commitment to change the names on the ballot for the general election to new, fresh names. The incumbent members of Congress need to wake up the morning after the primary votes have been cast and counted and find themselves out of the race completely.

We can’t fail to act if we are to remain free. We can’t wait until the general election if we want a new congress. To unite as democrats and republicans and be successful, it is the primary where we must act.

It isn’t hard to do, we just need to agree that it is necessary if we are to continue as free people. Make the decision to unite with all Americans and vote in the 2010 primary. Make the commitment not to re-elect any incumbent as your party’s candidate for office. It is, most probably, the last chance for us, the voters, to save our American way of life.

AMERICANS MUST MAKE THEIR CHOICES

A Call For Resolve and Unity in America

There is a phenomena occuring within the USA that, in my opinion, is generated by a selfish, ungrateful attitude in some people who are so comfortable and secure as to be spolied by and at the same time ashamed of the life of ease and openness our country has provided for them. These people publicly spout their contempt for the government and proudly whimper that they are ashamed of their citizenship. It is to these oblivious few that I offer some brotherly advice and admonishment.

Every once in a while it becomes necessary for Americans to reaffirm their priorities according to their desires and hopes for the future, essentially taking stock of where you are, what you want, and how you plan to get there, and evaluating your ability of attaining these goals via the methods you’ve adopted. The need for setting goals, overall, is obvious, but the choice of goals is not always so apparent. Reasons are personal and are not meant to be made public. But methods and attitude are not often kept secret and are usually noticed by anyone watching.

But a nation’s goals are, by their nature, intended to be a publicly scrutinized, intelligently debated set of commonly held hopes for the future of those who make up the population of the nation. For this reason, albeit not the primary reason, the citizens of the nation agree to be governed by an acceptable form of ruling body. The best government is individual self control.

This, though, is not practical for large populations because the more people there are the greater the number of predators who will prey on those trying to do right. For any significant census, a benevolent, central ruling organization is the least intrusive. Not the method of choice, but it has been shown to be the lesser evil of our choices.

We in the USA are fortunate to have had a remarkably astute and wisely intelligent group of people involved in the establishment of our democratic republic. For weeks and months these people labored over every single aspect of the form our government would take, argued intensely over every word and why and how it would be interpreted. You see, they had a very specific plan of the type of government they wanted.

Benjamin Franklin, who was not a voting delegate at the constitutional congress, was asked to give his opinion on the final draft of the constitution we have today. After explaining that he did not initially approve of it he said, "It astonishes me to find this system of government approaching so near to perfection as it does, and I think it will astonish our enemies who are waiting with confidence to hear that our counsels are confounded like those of Babel, and that our states are on the point of seperation, only to meet hereafter for the purpose of cutting each other’s throats."

He went on to say that, for the greater public good, he would give up his objections to the imperfections because he was not sure that it was not the best they could ever have. He went on to advise the delegates to not go home publicizing the differences and objections they had succesfully overcome, but to make a united front that could be a publicly proclaimed victory in that all had agreed on this constitution and had unanimously voted it in as law. Otherwise public opinion might be split again, especially in some not so friendly foreign courts.

Franklin knew very well the importance of unity in action and that successful action especially benefitted from unanimity and exhorted the delegates returning home to adopt an attitude of oneness and cohesion to the world. He also understood thoroughly the lift in spirit and boost to morale that news of a division in ranks gives to the enemies of an endeavor such as theirs and admonished the members to not let themselves be a source of any such boost in the hopes of the enemy.

We as a nation must now re-affirm the goals this "near perfect" constitution set forth, re-assess our reasons for them, and re-evaluate the methods we will use to attain them. We as individuals must decide whether or not we will be a part of that effort.

The goals of our founding brothers:

"WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—That to secure these Rights, Governments are Instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

And . . .

"To form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity".

The reasons for the goals were inherent and stated as a part of the expression of the goals.


The methods they agreed on for the achievement of the goals:

"Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our Intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly Publish and Declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES; that they are absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political Connection between them and the State of Great-Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which INDEPENDENT STATES may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

And…

"We the people of the United States of America do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

The Declaration of Independence was the promise they made to themselves and each other to strive for the goals stated, and the Constitution was the fulfillment of the promise in the form of the agreed upon steps necessary for reaching their goals. In the declaration they promised to each other their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor in the endeavor for life and the pursuit of happiness through individual freedom and personal liberties. In the Constitution they put that life, fortune, and sacred honor on the table for all to see and to make it available if needed by their partners. These men personally put it all on the line for the insurance of success that all citizens would eventually benefit from.

Can we, today, define any more perfect aspirations or goals than theirs? To live a life where no one, especially not a king or dictator, determines how your life will be lived. To have a nation as home where any person is free to move about in the pursuit of his idea of what should be.

Can we, today, design any more righteous method to attain those goals than by starting fresh and new and establishing a government that is built from the ground up by the people, for the people, and is made up of those people? It was then and remains today an inspired and honorable path to tread in pursuit of our lofty aspirations, and we have become the nation that the rest of the world patterns their behavior after if they, too, feel the need to be free and commit theselves to procuring that prize for themselves.

We face a different enemy than the founding brothers saw looming at their door. We face religious zealots who call for the total destruction of any form of government other than that of their religious laws, and for the anihillation of any and all who oppose them. There is no place for mediation in their world, only submission to their laws or death. Tolerance, pursuit of happiness, freedom through liberty for all is a stronger and more inviting temptation than is succumb or die.

We also face an enemy from within, a domestic threat to our great experiment of self-governance. This threat comes from a lack of responsibility on the part of those who would voluntarily sacrifice all personal liberty for the perceived comfort of being governed rather than being the governors. They see a government chosen by the people as corrupt, greedy, and inefficient at giving all to everyone. They would rather do nothing and live minimally than work for a higher life quality. All they have to do to destroy our Constitution is vote for its demise. That is their perception of their pursuit of happiness, but not mine.

Our pursuit and defense of that pursuit is now as it was when our forefathers declared: "as FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES we have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which INDEPENDENT STATES may of right do."

It has become necessary that every person examine their own resolve to pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to the common goal of a free America, doing as Franklin saw the need and setting aside personal objections for the greater good of the people.

You must make your own decision about your choice of goals and how to achieve them. You need to decide what form of government you will support, theirs or ours. You must make your own choice about the future you would pursue and decide whether it will be them, or the US you will support. Then you must, if you honestly expect success in attaining your goals, declare your life, fortune, and sacred honor to be one with your fellow Americans regardless of party affiliation, and let no one outside our band of brothers see the objections and disagreements within lest the enemy receive hope and satisfaction from it

United We Stand, Divided We Fall.

It is still just as true and important that we honor its meaning now as it has ever been to do so. Never let anyone take from us what so many have died to keep, our freedom.

HEY BUDDY, WHICH WAY TO LEXINGTON?

Preface
Please, excuse me if I sound frustrated or show no confidence in the patriotism of our people. I simply offer what I see as a realistic assessment of our position as patriotic Ameicans and the destiny of America. If you can show me wrong, please, PLEASE do so.
 
 
HEY BUDDY, WHICH WAY TO LEXINGTON?
 
Lexington, Massachussets, was the little town where British regulars and the Minutemen first met each other in opposition. It was a few miles away, at Concord, where the real, intentional fighting that was to become the Revolution began with the "shot heard round the world".
 
It has become apparent to the citizens of today that our government has become a tyrannical and fascist group of traitors having no interest in what is legal, but, instead, intent on plundering the wealth of the people and transforming our nation into one where they, alone, make the decisions and hold the power. The brazen arrogance shown in the illegal actions by Congress and their support for and encouragement of the recently elected, ineligible president, leaves no doubt as to what steps must be taken if We, the People have any hope of maintaining our rights under the law.
 
Many have claimed their ability and willingness to be present day Minutemen and defend our constitution. But where, and when and how will they make the effort? Who will lead them? Who will oppose them? Will the civil and military authorities recognize their responsibilities under the Constitution? Or will they, as the SCOTUS and many other "duly constituted officials", declare them to be acting without standing and eliminate their opposition?
 
There is, that I am aware of, no group or organization ready or able to do that which would be required to take control of our nation. Even if there were, have they prepared for a new government? Do they have qualified replacements for government officials who can "hit the ground running" and guide the country to new elections, operate the treasury and other agenies effectively? I don't think there is such a movement existing today.
 
The only hope, and we would be audacious to have any, is that the damage done to the US in the next two to four years will be such that a new, constitutionally motivated congress can reverse that damge and restore the rule of law. Judging from the zeal and accomplishments of the present power in Washington, two years will be more than enough time to undo what our founders wrought 233 years ago.
 
God bless America, and have mercy on her people.

OVERTHROWING THE GOVERNMENT?

It is a violation of US code to advocate or take part in, in any way, the violent overthrow of the US government. But, the armed removal from office of a known and proven usurper or armed action to prevent gross and destructive violations of the Constitution can not be defined as the overthrowing of the government. It is, instead, the right of the people to replace the government officials with those who will obey and defend the Constitution.
 
No matter how they have twisted the second ammendment, according to Thomas Jefferson, among others, the right to bear arms is a constitutional promise that insured the people's God given right to defend themselves against a tyrannical government.
 
For the People to rise up in arms to remove a tyrant, a dictator, or a usurper, with the purpose of restoring the Constitution as the law is not "overthrowing" the government.

I have taken some liberties with our original Declaration of Independence and produced one to address our present situation.

 

THE REDECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

An Action Of the People, By the People, and For the People

June 15, 2008

When the people of a nation determine that the governmental officials they have elected have become inadequate, incompetent, or unwilling to perform the work for which they were elected, it is the responsibility of the people to, out of decency and with all courtesy, inform those officials as to the particular reasons why the people now choose to disassocite themselves from them and seek their removal from office and prosecution for high crimes, as is their right guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.

We, the People of the United States, recognize the Constitution as the only true law of this nation and are, thereby, legally endowed with the power and responsibilty to assure that our rights both God given and under the law, specifically the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, are not usurped, limited, or modified in such manner as to alienate the people from those self-evident, divinely endowed rights. In the business of securing those rights we faithfully and sincerely elected you from those among us who proclaimed their desire to represent us and to take our hopes, wishes, and concerns as their mandate and be one among the many comprising the elements of a government of the People, by the People, and for the People. It was with your sworn oath to uphold the Constitution that we consented to grant you our power to govern ourselves and to trust in you to act in our best interests. We have, though, always retained the right to alter or abolish that consent and to institute a new government, even if of a different form and foundation, with the principals and powers as we determine necessary to insure our safety and happiness.

We have not come to this decision through impudence or haste but have chosen to suffer, for a sufferable time, the evils wrought rather than rush to hasty and ill conceived actions. But it is all too obvious that the long practiced abuses and usurpations you have pursued are designed and intended to reduce, under absolute despotism, those who placed with you their trust and futures. It is this need for such long suffering that has now become the necessity which constrains us to make such serious and mandatory reform.

The history of both the House of Representitves and the Senate is one wrought with deception, larceny, coercion, perjury, treason, and collusion, all to one purpose: to impose upon the People a state of tyranny and absolute control over every aspect of their lives and liberties. The following is a list of facts that have been confirmed and stipulated to by the People who are the ultimate power and authority having jurisdiction over you.

Congress has passed legislation that limits the ability of the People to determine for themselves what policies they see necessary and wholesome for the good of the People. This includes legislation banning the open display of religious belief, limitations on the ability to bring grievances before Congress, imposition of unecessary and harmful taxes, prohibition of the use of publicly owned natural resources causing extremely high prices, dependence on foreign sources, and forcing, through related legislation, involuntary investments in unproven, technically questionable industry, engaged in personality of false, frivilous, self-serving accusations against an incumbent president, his staff, and appointees, refused to perform the duties ascribed to them by the Constitution to hold confirmation sessions for appoimtees to federal agencies and international organizations, or for international agreements on trade, made abitrary rules changes designed to circumvent their responsibilities and to delay votes until elections on the hope their numbers would increase causing votes to result in their own interests, lied to the public regarding the cause and effect of technology misunderstood and misrepresented, and in general, sought to purposely cause harm to and deprive the People of their rights.

Congress has refused to pass laws that would insure the safety and happiness of the People and, instead, have sought to increase the risk to our nation. Their refusal to act includes the total disregard for the illegal influx of millions of foreign nationals, failure to enact effective border security legislation and failure to provide adequate funding for existing forces, refused to enact or support existing policies intended to gather security intelligence vital to the success of approved military operations, failed to allocate funding necessary for the safety and effectiveness of our armed forces in said conflict, and in general, refused to develop or enact any legislation to support or enhance the reputation and international standing of the USA in any form.

Congress has engaged in fraud and collusion by holding hearings, investigations, depositions, closed meetings, inviting those whose authority is questionable to act as expert consultants on subjects of great importance to the People, and have published false and exaggerated findings designed to fool and confuse the People to implement their own personally beneficial policies of treason and felony.

Congress has thrown the hard earned wealth of the People into myriads of trash bin expenditures, earmarks, bribes, payoffs, and phony investments thereby causing the overall diminishing of the People’s ability to prosper. In addition, members of congress have been found accepting and offering bribes, illegal gratuities and expensive gifts and services, kickbacks on federal contracts, and phony expenditures destined to line their own pockets. In general, congress has proven themselves to be thieves of the People’s money to the point of arrogance and to harbor an indifference and adversarial mentality toward the People. If there were found an incorrupted newcomer to congress it is understood that he be taught the ways and means of congressional embezzlement or be relegated to a position of no concern.

Congress has, at every possibility, sought to increase the size, influence, and cost of government by erecting multitudes of new federal regulatory offices, empowering them with unconstitutional powers of search and seizure with no warrant or presumption of innocence, mandated the distribution of the People’s money as aid to illegal immigrants, repealed essential financial stimuli meant to encourage profitable industry, employed inefficient, dishonest contractors under the false purpose of racial inclusion, and, in general have spent and wasted evermore increasing amounts of the financial fruit of the labor of the People.

In summation, Congress has not only failed to do the good and honest work the People as expected, but have intentionally endeavored to deprive the People of their rights, wealth, security, dignity, and their very lives. They have become the antithesists of representitves of the People, preferring to consider the People their own flock of wooly sheep knowing that, by entrusting them with our right to self determination, they procure for themselves a constantly abundant supply of valuable, comfortable wool ready for the fleecing.

In every way possible and at every opportunity we the People have made our concerns known and have given every possibility for them to change their course and follow the path of a wealthy, intelligent, self determined constituency. There has been no lack of warnings, pleadings, and appeals. We have tried to remind congress of the successes and accomplishments of our nation. We have appealed to them on a personal and patriotic level, only to be ignored. Because of this, we find ourselves in the proverbial corner, pushed beyond all acceptible boundaries onto the path we now must take.

Therefore, we the People, in accordance with the Constitution and the responsibility demanded of us in the original Declaration of Independence, hereby notify you, the members of congress, of our intent to separate ourselves from your jurisdiction unto the sovereignty of the states, to become effective immediately, and we withold the right to, at some future date of our choosing, pursue a more suitable and deserved action against each member, civil or criminal, as we might determine just. You are no longer recognized by the People as having any authority as a member of Congress. You are, therefore, rendered unemployed. You are advised not to leave the borders or jurisdiction of the United States and to make your location known at all times, or be considered fugitives from justice.

Furthermore, we the People declare our support and allegiance to this Redeclaration of Independence, with a devout reliance on the protection of a divine providence, and pledge our Lives, Fortunes, and sacred Honor to each other collectively as We the People.

STATES ARE FIGHTING BACK WITH STATE'S RIGHTS

According to articles at the Great American Journal, several state legislatures have notified Congress that they are invoking their rights under the Constitution to govern themselves.
 
Also at Great American Journal is an article describing a Constitutional Convention 2009 being planned for this year in Philadelphia. All fifty states are selecting delegates to attend and discuss the condition of the People's control of government.
 
I am leary of both of these articles due to their claims of nationwide participation despite a lack of any supporting announcements. I am also hopeful due to this site's previous validity in their claims. It is, at least, cause for hope.

A TOTAL VOTER’S REVOLT

I have written on the need to purge Congress by voting out all incumbents, and, more recently, about the Article Five Convention and Congress’ ignoring of their duty to call for a convention. It is our duty as Americans to vote out the incumbents and vote in a new congress. We are the only ones who can do that.

These two tools, the vote of the People, and a convention for states to propose ammendments, are all we, the People have to influence government. It is obvious that Congress will continue to ignore their duty no matter by how many states request an Article Five Convention as they have for over 200 years. So, it becomes even more imperative to use our vote in the most drastic method we can to cause the drastic change needed. It was accomplished in 1938 resulting in a 60% turnover in members of Congress. We can do even better with the current attitude of the American voters. We must do better or lose our rights and our nation.

Voting out the incumbent congress members does not require any voter to change their party or belief, it does not require any new process. It only requires us to not re-elect any current member of Congress every two years for the next six years. Once Congress is purged of those who have made a life out of fleecing America, the new members will be more likely to actually call for a convention when the states ask for one. This will allow the states and their voters to undo a lot of what has been done by Congress. This will, again, bring the differences between the various parties into play, but with a congress that is receptive and new to the world of politics, in other words, still relatively uncorrupted.

Tell everyone you know to vote them ALL out.  Make it clear it is crucial to our nation to get a new breed of representitive who is ready to do our business in Washington. These are the items all Americans have in common, disgust with government, love for America, and the ability to vote in new members to replace the lifers.

Voters, REVOLT ! ! Vote ALL the bums out ! ! It's the only way we have.

A CALL FOR A REVOLUTION BY ALL VOTERS...

We Americans are in dire straits, and we have been forced there by our elected officials in Congress. Both the dems and the reps have pursued or allowed the pursuit of policies and laws that are destructive to our nation, and are harmful in every way to the people they claim to represent.
 
We, the People, are not at odds with each other, though they in congress would have us believe that.  We citizens are essentially in total accord when it comes to our views on the constitution, individual liberty, the danger of corrupt, bloated government bureaucracy, and the right of the People to control our government. We do not have the animosity towards other citizens that the press seems to believe exists. We all can be grouped into a single, well defined mindset of personal responsibility, pursuit of the American dream, the right to not be oppressed by our elected officials, and the right to be protected against those who make themselves our enemies.
 
We are all true Americans and we are all sick to death of the stupid, selfish, egotistical, un-American, congressional actions that have us paying higher and higher portions of our earnings to more idiotic taxations, and manipulated higher prices for every necessity of life, all in the name of power.
 
Instead of blaming the democrat who believes in the ideals of the non-existant party that used to be, instead of insulting and attacking the republican because he still believes in the Constitution as it was written, instead of falling for the divisive lies and constant ranting between the leftist and right wing congress, let's shock the world in a really BIG way. Let's all make it our solemn duty as true American Democratic and Republican patriots to dump ALL INCUMBENT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS in the next three congressional election cycles. One third of congress faces an election by the people every two years, in six years every member of congress comes up for re-election. Let us all make "re-election" a vulgar, profane idea until we have transfused congress with new, fresh, red American blood.
 
For the next three congressional election cycles, lets vote for the most politically unexperienced  candidate running. After all, it is their professional political expertise that threatens to provide us with more of the same. Vote for the most common of the candidates who would be honored to have the chance to serve as our representitives and would do the work of the people.

THE REASONS ARE THE SAME TODAY AS THEN

I pulled out my copy of the Declaration of Independence today and when I got down to the listing of grievances against the King I was shocked to see the very same actions by the King that we all are so concerned with Congress two hundred and thirty so years later. Read them and see if they aren't, for the most part, the same. Some, obviously, are unique to that time, but the majority are a real example of re-living history.

The History of the present King of Great-Britain is a History of repeated Injuries and Usurpations, all having in direct Object the Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid World.

HE has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.

HE has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing Importance, unless suspended in their Operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

HE has refused to pass other Laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of People, unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature, a Right inestimable to them, and formidable to Tyrants only.

HE has called together Legislative Bodies at Places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the Depository of their public Records, for the sole Purpose of fatiguing them into Compliance with his Measures.

HE has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly Firmness his Invasions on the Rights of the People.

HE has refused for a long Time, after such Dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the Dangers of Invasion from without, and Convulsions within.

HE has endeavoured to prevent the Population of these States; for that Purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither, and raising the Conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

HE has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

HE has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the Tenure of their Offices, and the Amount and Payment of their Salaries.

HE has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harrass our People, and eat out their Substance.

HE has kept among us, in Times of Peace Standing Armies, without the consent of our Legislatures.

HE has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

HE has combined with others to subject us to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our Laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation: FOR quartering large Bodies of Armed Troops among us: FOR protecting them, by a mock Trial, from Punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States: FOR cutting off our Trade with all Parts of the World:

FOR imposing Taxes on us without our Consent: FOR depriving us, in many Cases, of the Benefits of Trial by Jury: FOR transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended Offences: FOR abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an arbitrary Government, and enlarging its Boundaries, so as to render it at once an Example and fit Instrument for introducing the same absolute Rule into these Colonies: FOR taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments: FOR suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with Power to legislate for us in all Cases whatsoever.

HE has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

HE has plundered our Seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our Towns, and destroyed the Lives of our People.

HE is, at this Time, transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the Works of Death, Desolation, and Tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty and Perfidy, scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous Ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized Nation.

HE has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the Executioners of their Friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

HE has excited domestic Insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes and Conditions.

IN every stage of these Oppressions we have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble Terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated Injury. A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People.

NOR have we been wanting in Attentions to our British Brethren. We have warned them from Time to Time of Attempts by their Legislature to extend an unwarrantable Jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the Circumstances of our Emigration and Settlement here. We have appealed to their native Justice and Magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the Ties of our common Kindred to disavow these Usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our Connections and Correspondence. They too have been deaf to the Voice of Justice and of Consanguinity.
We must, therefore, acquiesce in the Necessity, which, denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of Mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace, Friends.

WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our Intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly Publish and Declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES; that they are absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political Connection between them and the State of Great-Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which INDEPENDENT STATES may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
