WHICH CHANGE WILL YOU VOTE FOR?

This presidential campaign has made the idea of change a political vaguery open to speculation and imagination. The Democratic candidate has made it his mantra and it has eagerly been supported by throngs of idolizers who are able, due to Obama’s lack of specificity, to fill in their own idea of what that change may be. But if the facts of the past few years show anything at all they show that Obama’s promise to change the direction of our country is a pledge that he will, more fervently, continue the policies that have been in effect since the last congressional election and that the only change will be away from the constitution and toward a socialist elite ruling class at a more rapid pace.

In the past two years we have seen the shameful despotic control of Congress by House Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid. Their shortsighted, unrealistic, egotistical demands that the policy of no drilling for additional oil sources will be continued, that the mortgage industry relax their qualifications to make home ownership available to lower income earners, their all out war against the Patriot Act, our uniformed forces and their mission, and every aspect of this nation’s defense policies, their perverted demand for windfall profit taxes on the petroleum industry, and many other socialist policies have brought this nation to the place where we stand today. Despite their anti-American efforts and the apparent desire to see all Americans depleated of their savings and way of life, the economy, the military, the president, and the people are still alive and kicking.

But things could and will change drastically if the Democrats win the Whitehouse and maintain a majority in Congress. They will change by staying the same in the underlying scheme of the liberals. They will gain the power to actually do some major reconstruction on the American way of life and subvert the Constitution to that end. The path will be the same, but the speed down the path will greatly increase. That is the change Obama promises whether he specifies it as such or not.

So when McCain says he is for change in Washington we can be sure he means a real change in direction back to the basics this country was founded on. We can know this by his history of pro-American activities and voting record. The facts of the recent past show his to be the real, authentic claim to change the direction of America. When Obama talks change he intends to accelerate us along the route set by Commrades Pelosi and Reid, Schumer and Kennedy, and the rest of the radical, left wing Soviet wannabees. We can be sure of this by examining his past and present associates, his word for word repitition of socialist euphamisms such as "economic justice" and the absence of any reference to adherance to the Constitution, and his obvious disdain for this nation and his continued criticism of its way of life and world stature.

So, which of the two definitions of change are American voters going to choose? Forget all the unimportant details and zoom out to the big picture: America becoming a socialist dictatorship or oligarchy, or America clinging to the Constitution and individual liberty. These are the two basic choices. As another astute townhall blogger has repeatedly, and correctly put it, "Conservatism sells". Let’s all hope so. For the sake of America and her great people, let’s all vote to make it so. SAY NO TO OBAMA!!

A FEW WORDS ON CO2, CLIMATE CHANGE, AND CONGRESS

As early as 1954 the state of California realized that automobile emissions were the source of air quality deterioration. By the early 60s automotive engineers and the Department of Motor Vehicles had enough research results to implement emission controls on all vehicles, new and used. Their goal was to achieve substantial reductions in targeted pollutants with the ideal result being auto exhaust that consisted of only carbon dioxide and water vapor, both proven to be naturally occurring and non-toxic. Of course, this ideal result could not be attained, but it was the goal California would strive for. The targeted pollutants which were the culprits in formation of smog and suspects in the depletion of the ozone layer were carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), total photochemical oxidants (TPO), total suspended particles (TSP), hydrocarbons (HC), and lead (Pb). Eventually the hydrocarbons were dropped from the list, oxidants (TPO) was replaced by ground level ozone, and suspended particles (TSP) was replaced with a particulate matter (PM) standard.

What you don’t see in any of the standards for auto pollution control is a requirement to reduce carbon dioxide. In fact, at that time, carbon dioxide emission was listed as one of the favorable results being sought by the state as a method of cleaning the atmosphere of existing ozone and carbon monoxide. The climate experts throughout the state were of the opinion, and had demonstrated in repeated laboratory trials, that carbon dioxide was not only non-toxic and non-polluting, but was beneficial to the atmosphere, plant life, and climate. Since that time the CO2 levels in the atmosphere have risen from .0025 to .0033 percent, or 25 parts per million to 33 parts per million.

Today, the majority of climatologists agree that some small part of that rise is probably due to manmade causes, but the majority of that rise has been caused by the cyclic warming of the interglacial period we have been in for near 10,000 years. Yes, I said they agree that the rise in CO2 is caused by climate warming, not the other way around.

So why is the climate warming? Well, if you consider that around 10,000 years ago there were ice sheets three miles thick reaching all the way to the equator from both the arctic and antarctic poles, the only choice the climate had to go, temperature wise, was warmer. We are still in the interglacial warming period, but most scientists believe we are reaching the peak of global warming. In fact, for the past 12 years there has been a levelling off and even a slight decrease in average worldwide temperatures.

Over 33,000 scientists agree that a slight increase in temperature and CO2 is far and away a more desirable scenario than would be a plunge in temperature and the slide into the next glacial period. Even if an ice age were not imminent, it is a fact that all life on Earth benefits when the temperature is slightly warmer and CO2 levels slightly higher than the calculated averages of the past several million years. In 1816, the year following the eruption of Mt. Tambora, global temperatures fell dramatically causing crop killing freezes in May and June, lake and river ice as far south as Pennsylvania in July and August, and was known as the "Year Without a Summer". Agricultural failures led to starvation and a lowered state of immunity which resulted in death from disease.

Those folks who suffered through that year could have done with a bit more heat and CO2. Humans as a species have always prospered in warmer regions and periods as opposed to colder temperatures.

The climate change scare mongers claim a rise in CO2 is causing warming of the atmosphere in the range of about 0.4 to 1.5*C per century. What a puny heat wave that is. That won’t even cause you to break a sweat. They claim that rise is causing the ice sheets at the poles to melt. Satellite measurements show, though, that the ice sheets this year are already 12% larger than at this time last year. Polar bear populations have grown approximately 18% in the past decade, pollock has increased approximately 7% despite their status as the most commercially fished, and sea level continues to rise at a rate of 1-4 centimeters per year at specific locations. In other locations around the world sea level has actually dropped as much as 8-10 centimeters. NOAA scientists say that plate tectonics and wind have more effect on world wide sea level fluctuations than the melting of ice sheets would, if they were actually melting.

The bottom line to all this is we, as a nation and internationally as well, are being duped and forced into making drastic, VERY expensive, long term changes in almost every aspect of our lives in an attempt to prevent a slate of supposed disastrous, man made changes in Earth’s climate that are exagerated and fabricated and over which man has no control. Legislation of all kinds demand investment and research into unproven, high cost energy replacements, financial and even criminal penalties for causing CO2 emissions, industrial limitations on emissions of future production items, the forced banning of the production and usage of inexpensive, readily available, proven energy resources, and the enrichment of the fat cat proponents of such false climate change scare tactics to the detriment of every individual wage earner or business owner.

The Eath’s climate is a highly complex, ever changing machanism driven entirely by the heat from the sun. It has many, many subtle and evident subsystems which act to cool excessive heat and warm extreme cooling. No scientist who believes in the scientific method admits to understanding the vast workings of Earth’s climate, and they all agree that consensus of even 200 trillion scientists is not a method for validating or disproving anything. Only experimentation of a hypothesis with reproducable results, and validation of those results by observation of actual climate conditions can be used as valid reason for action. In other words, we don’t know enough about how the climate works to justify the extreme financial and social upheaval being demanded by a group of scientists, environmental extremists, and politicians who have a great deal to gain from such drastic changes. It is just not ethical to cause such harm and suffering over what amounts to fables and myths. We must vote in a totally new Congress and convince the new members to reverse the policies and legislation enacted in an attempt to control the climate.

VOTERS UNITE IN AN ELECTION REVOLT TO FIX AMERICA !!

Subnote: It is my opinion that the impotent rally of GOP representitives after the speaker adjourned the session is a blatant attempt to garner support for the re-election of those involved. Their actions will not change democratic policy, they have acted seven years too late, and there was a very puny number of participants. I think it was all a show put on by members who realized the voters are pissed off and believed they could make up for their years of inaction with a few days of acting like they cared. After all, why didn’t they try this protest BEFORE Pelosi ended the session? Why didn’t they get this excited last year? Complacency?

USE THE TOOLS WE HAVE TO SAVE AMERICA

A VOTER’S  REVOLT

The reasons we have such an unresponsive, corrupt congress are…

  1. 40-50% of voters don’t even vote.
  2. While giving very low approval ratings, (11% or lower) voters have a habit of re-electing their incumbent members 96.5% of the time since 1980, and 92% before that.
  3. Too many voters from both sides choose to believe the divisive lies told by elected officials meant to keep us from uniting with a majority of votes, and blame the other party’s voters, resort to name calling, and divide the People.
  4. Many voters are single-issue minded. This makes them easy to manipulate and more likely not to vote.

We must STOP THE REPEAT OFFENDERS by not re-electing any of the incumbent members of Congress. It is OUR fault, Democrat and Republican voters, that these crooks have had 20 and 30 years in Congress to do their dirty work and become so arrogant. The longer we put this off, the longer it will take and the more painful it will be on us when we do decide to retake our government.

OUR TOOL TO CONTROL OR REPLACE GOVERNMENT

I have dedicated my time on-line to finding a legal, non-violent way to force Congress to actually represent the will of the people who elected them. I concentrated specifically on the admonition in the Declaration of Independence that it was our duty to throw out an unjust government and re-establish it to suit our ideas of what government should be. I figured there had to be a process or law spelled out somewhere to provide the ability to perform such an act. The only obvious methods I found initially, were by voting for candidates that we agreed with and voting out incumbents, and by expressing our displeasure with them by writing or otherwise communicating with them.

After more searching, I have found the tool that was expressly meant to allow for a more direct and personal control of government written into the Constitution. It is Article Five of the Constitution, written by Alexander Hamilton and called the "Ammendment Article". It states…

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose ammendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call for a convention for proposing ammendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no ammendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.

This allows for states to have a say in what the Constitution is and to have a way to change it. Even though it says Congress shall call for a convention when 2/3rds of the state legislatures apply for it, the Congress has ignored 576 applications by all fifty states since the Constitution was ratified. All sorts of different reasons have been used by Congress, but the truth is they just don’t want to let anyone else, including the people, to have the power to ammend the Constitution. Eighteen lawsuits by different people, companies, politicians, etc., have been filed and all have been dismissed for one reason or another, or Congress has found a way to immunize themselves against the court decisions. In the most recent case in front of the Supreme Court of the United States, Walker v. the Members of Congress, 2006, the attorney for Congress, agreed to by all members, refused to reply to a writ specifying the reasons for the lawsuit, thereby affirming the writ as true, and constituting a confession of guilt by the defendants. The Court ruled that Walker had no standing to bring a suit against Congress but did not explain why. It also stated that the refusal to reply to the writ would be recorded and any future court that ruled in favor of a plaintiff could use the refusal as a sentencable action. In other words, every member of Congress plead guilty to two federal crimes. One being, that they failed to uphold and abide by the Constitution, and two, that they violated their Oath of Office by not enforcing the Constitution. The court dismissed the lawsuit but entered the non-response to the writ as offenses confessed into the record for future sentencing.

Congress came away believing they had won because the court dismissed the suit and they had not been thrown in jail. As a result, they are of the belief that only they can ammend the Constitution, and that they can ignore it anyway they see fit.

The court dismissed the suit because they found Walker was not entitled to file such a suit. I believe that ruling was because Walker was not a member of a state legislature and that is what Art. Five addresses. But, even though it dismissed the suit, it obviously agreed that the refusal to respond to the writ was an admission of criminal activity in that it entered it into the record.

Congress, in their false sense of superiority over the people, have, at every opportunity, have acted to limit or completely deny the voters the right to control their activities and our government. The only method for the people to remain the authority is to VOTE OUT EVERY INCUMBENT MEMBER OF CONGRESS and start new.

Let everyone of us, no matter how good we believe our elected officials are, no matter what party we belong to, have the will to do what was done in 1938, vote out the majority, if not the entirity, of Congress and vote in those who seek to do the right thing, that being, represent their constituents.

A CALL FOR A REVOLUTION BY ALL VOTERS...

We Americans are in dire straits, and we have been forced there by our elected officials in Congress. Both the dems and the reps have pursued or allowed the pursuit of policies and laws that are destructive to our nation, and are harmful in every way to the people they claim to represent.
 
We, the People, are not at odds with each other, though they in congress would have us believe that.  We citizens are essentially in total accord when it comes to our views on the constitution, individual liberty, the danger of corrupt, bloated government bureaucracy, and the right of the People to control our government. We do not have the animosity towards other citizens that the press seems to believe exists. We all can be grouped into a single, well defined mindset of personal responsibility, pursuit of the American dream, the right to not be oppressed by our elected officials, and the right to be protected against those who make themselves our enemies.
 
We are all true Americans and we are all sick to death of the stupid, selfish, egotistical, un-American, congressional actions that have us paying higher and higher portions of our earnings to more idiotic taxations, and manipulated higher prices for every necessity of life, all in the name of power.
 
Instead of blaming the democrat who believes in the ideals of the non-existant party that used to be, instead of insulting and attacking the republican because he still believes in the Constitution as it was written, instead of falling for the divisive lies and constant ranting between the leftist and right wing congress, let's shock the world in a really BIG way. Let's all make it our solemn duty as true American Democratic and Republican patriots to dump ALL INCUMBENT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS in the next three congressional election cycles. One third of congress faces an election by the people every two years, in six years every member of congress comes up for re-election. Let us all make "re-election" a vulgar, profane idea until we have transfused congress with new, fresh, red American blood.
 
For the next three congressional election cycles, lets vote for the most politically unexperienced  candidate running. After all, it is their professional political expertise that threatens to provide us with more of the same. Vote for the most common of the candidates who would be honored to have the chance to serve as our representitives and would do the work of the people.
 
Unite to Replace Congress !! Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, all Americans who are disappointed with our government. Re-Election is NOT AN OPTION WITH THESE INCUMBENTS !!
 
Vote them all out, a third at a time. We will live to celebrate the salvation of America, together.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America

WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation.

WE hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

The History of the present King of Great-Britain is a History of repeated Injuries and Usurpations, all having in direct Object the Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid World.
HE has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.
 
HE has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing Importance, unless suspended in their Operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

HE has refused to pass other Laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of People, unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature, a Right inestimable to them, and formidable to Tyrants only.

HE has called together Legislative Bodies at Places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the Depository of their public Records, for the sole Purpose of fatiguing them into Compliance with his Measures.

HE has excited domestic Insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes and Conditions.

IN every stage of these Oppressions we have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble Terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated Injury. A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People.

NOR have we been wanting in Attentions to our British Brethren. We have warned them from Time to Time of Attempts by their Legislature to extend an unwarrantable Jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the Circumstances of our Emigration and Settlement here. We have appealed to their native Justice and Magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the Ties of our common Kindred to disavow these Usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our Connections and Correspondence. They too have been deaf to the Voice of Justice and of Consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the Necessity, which, denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of Mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace.
WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our Intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly Publish and Declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES; that they are absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political Connection between them and the State of Great-Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which INDEPENDENT STATES may of right do.

10 YEAR OLD MISTAKE BY SENATE KEPT SECRET

While browsing the other day, I happened upon a site called Sovereignty International. They are a watchdog type group who monitors the actions of the UN and, especially, its intent to bring about a global government. I got engrossed in an article about land usage and control regarding the treaties, commissions, conventions, and other procedures used to further their ultimate goal of world control. It was in that article that I came upon this statement from the site’s magazine, eco-logic…

"Editor's note: This article first appeared in the November 1, issue of eco-logic. It has caused substantial controversy. Callers to Senator Thomas' office were told that he had nothing to do with the ratification. Other Senators told callers that the treaty had not been ratified. Clearly, this treaty slipped through the process without adequate review, and without the knowledge of some of the Senators who voted for it."

The article went on to describe a gross error on the part of a US Senator in 1999, in passing 34 treaties in less than three minutes by asking the senate president for, and receiving, approval to bypass all normal parliamentary procedures such as review, discussion, debate, and necessary provisos, and pass all 34 treaties as having been unanimously reviewed and agreed to, and to draft resolutions of ratification, and after such disposition, allow the Senate to return to legislative session.

The 34 treaties were thought to all be routine agreements with single nations dealing with treatment of criminals, stolen cars, etc., and the senate president approved the request of the senator and, without objection, ordered it to be so. The only problem with that, other than the senator’s complete disregard for protocol, was that two of the treaties were UN treaties which had been determined not to be in the best interests of the USA. One was the Convention on Desertification which, ultimately, requires private land owners and residents of rural properties designated by the UN as Heritage Areas, to desert their property so it may become an ecological world treasure where no human is allowed to go and nature can be totally undisturbed.

As a result, over 51 million acres of US land has been designated as Heritage Biospheres and, when the treaty is fully implemented, it will be over 100 million acres and will impact a total of 171 million people in some form.

It is, to say the least, having a significant effect on the sovereignty of the USA, and promises to become even more destructive in ways this treaty doesn’t, yet, address.

Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes. Social justice, urban renewal and development, the provision of decent dwellings and healthy conditions for the people can only be achieved if land is used in the interests of society as a whole.

THE REASONS ARE THE SAME TODAY AS THEN

I pulled out my copy of the Declaration of Independence today and when I got down to the listing of grievances against the King I was shocked to see the very same actions by the King that we all are so concerned with Congress two hundred and thirty so years later. Read them and see if they aren't, for the most part, the same. Some, obviously, are unique to that time, but the majority are a real example of re-living history.

The History of the present King of Great-Britain is a History of repeated Injuries and Usurpations, all having in direct Object the Establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid World.

HE has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public Good.

HE has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing Importance, unless suspended in their Operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

HE has refused to pass other Laws for the Accommodation of large Districts of People, unless those People would relinquish the Right of Representation in the Legislature, a Right inestimable to them, and formidable to Tyrants only.

HE has called together Legislative Bodies at Places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the Depository of their public Records, for the sole Purpose of fatiguing them into Compliance with his Measures.

HE has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly Firmness his Invasions on the Rights of the People.

HE has refused for a long Time, after such Dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the Dangers of Invasion from without, and Convulsions within.

HE has endeavoured to prevent the Population of these States; for that Purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither, and raising the Conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

HE has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary Powers.

HE has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the Tenure of their Offices, and the Amount and Payment of their Salaries.

HE has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harrass our People, and eat out their Substance.

HE has kept among us, in Times of Peace Standing Armies, without the consent of our Legislatures.

HE has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.

HE has combined with others to subject us to a Jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our Laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation: FOR quartering large Bodies of Armed Troops among us: FOR protecting them, by a mock Trial, from Punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States: FOR cutting off our Trade with all Parts of the World:

FOR imposing Taxes on us without our Consent: FOR depriving us, in many Cases, of the Benefits of Trial by Jury: FOR transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended Offences: FOR abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an arbitrary Government, and enlarging its Boundaries, so as to render it at once an Example and fit Instrument for introducing the same absolute Rule into these Colonies: FOR taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments: FOR suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with Power to legislate for us in all Cases whatsoever.

HE has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

HE has plundered our Seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our Towns, and destroyed the Lives of our People.

HE is, at this Time, transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the Works of Death, Desolation, and Tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty and Perfidy, scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous Ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized Nation.

HE has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the Executioners of their Friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

HE has excited domestic Insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the Inhabitants of our Frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known Rule of Warfare, is an undistinguished Destruction, of all Ages, Sexes and Conditions.

IN every stage of these Oppressions we have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble Terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated Injury. A Prince, whose Character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the Ruler of a free People.

NOR have we been wanting in Attentions to our British Brethren. We have warned them from Time to Time of Attempts by their Legislature to extend an unwarrantable Jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the Circumstances of our Emigration and Settlement here. We have appealed to their native Justice and Magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the Ties of our common Kindred to disavow these Usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our Connections and Correspondence. They too have been deaf to the Voice of Justice and of Consanguinity.
We must, therefore, acquiesce in the Necessity, which, denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of Mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace, Friends.

WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our Intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly Publish and Declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be, FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES; that they are absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political Connection between them and the State of Great-Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as FREE AND INDEPENDENT STATES, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which INDEPENDENT STATES may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
