PELOSI VETS PALIN RE: CHILDREN AND WORKING

The September, 2008, edition of The Ladies Home Journal, (published in August before McCain chose Gov. Sarah Palin, mother of five, as his VP) contains an interview of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In the single question excerpt below Ms. Pelosi tells the value of having five children as preparation for the daily struggle of politics.

Work-Life Balance
LHJ: You are a mother of five and were a homemaker for many years before entering politics. You say in your book that the skills you honed doing those
things were the same ones you needed when you got to Congress. How so?

NP: Absolutely, and this is what I want women to know, so they recognize the value of their own path, their unique experience. I've been in politics a
while, over 20 years in the Congress of the United States, and this is a very rough-and-tumble.... I shouldn't say 'rough,' let me say a very challenging
arena to be in. But as challenging as it is, nothing is as challenging as raising a family -- nothing. That experience forced me to be disciplined, diplomatic, focused, and successful, and I brought that discipline and focus to the Congress. Also, having a family keeps you focused on the future, which is the biggest inspiration in politics. In order to do what it takes to succeed in politics, you have to be inspired by your constituents, the power of your ideas, and the fact that you speak on behalf of children and their future, whether you have children of your own or not. It makes all the difference in the world.

It is refreshing to see that Ms. Pelosi disagrees with those who are criticizing Sarah Palin for running for political office while having five children.

MY LETTER TO Ms. PELOSI

I wrote and sent this letter to Nancy Pelosi on Aug. 1, 2008. I was urprised to see much the same sentiment in a lot of posts here, so I make my letter public. Her reply, if any, I will post when received. I have sent her five total and have received only one response.

Ms. Pelosi,

I know you are a very smart person and, therefore, can not truly believe the policies you are forcing on the people of America are in their best interests. Therefore, you must be aware that these policies are harming Americans but are oursuing their implementation, by decree, in spite of that harm. That is in violation of the oath of office you swore to and in violation of the Constitution.

Are you aware that you and Sen. Harry Reid have become the two most hated politicians in the USA? You have to be. Even your democratic constituents are crying out for you to allow drilling of our natural resources that are currently blocked by a law Congress passed. You fellow representitives even see the need for this action yet you continue to act as a dictatorial madwoman, bending and breaking House rules, and making them up as you see fit to prevent even the debate over your energy non-policies.

You and Mr. Reid are personally responsible for considerably lowering the standard of living of the people, causing the evaporation of savings and investments accumulated by the people, the high prices of everything that has any link to petroleum including food, transportation, electrical power, health care, and corporate viability. If it is found that any of the people who have perished in the heatwave in Texas had to forego paying power bills to buy food and gasoline, a very good case for you being criminall responsible for those lives lost could, and should be made.

You are acting in a manner that is directly opposite to what you swore to in your oath and that is a crime. You have caused serious, if not irreperable harm to the people and commerce of the USA. That is a crime. It is possible that you have caused the untimely deaths of people and that is a crime. I predict that as soon as you are no longer in office that prosecution will be sought against you and Mr. Reid. So why not make it easier on yourself and especially the American people and come down of your throne and do the will of the People. EVERYONE knows what that is.

Sincerely,
Glenn Flowers
